Growing Under Glass
When thinking about your Plant Conservatory, there are various considerations to be made which will make for easier and more varied growing options.
- Try to include at least one raised planter area to give you a good deep planting space which will need less watering and allow a better root system to develop. It will also allow you to grow larger specimens.
- Why not put a seat into your planter so you can really enjoy being amongst your plants?
- Include some sort of vine supports and vine wires to give climbers a free reign up walls and into the roof space.
- Keep all your surfaces waterproof where possible, stone flooring and sills will look great and withstand watering and heavy traffic.
- A tap or sink are useful accessories and can make life easier.
- Consider installing an irrigation system to care for your plants needs if you are likely to be away for periods of time.

"...what do you think of a metal as white as silver, as unalterable as gold, as easily melted as copper, as tough as iron, which is malleable, ductile, and with the singular quality of being lighter than glass?"
Charles Dickens on the subject of Aluminium 1893. |
