Living Under Glass
Careful consideration of the actual use of the conservatory will help to determine the best design and layout, as well as internal style, fixtures and fittings that will make the room both practical and enjoyable to use. Will you use it more in the morning or evening? As a quiet private retreat, or as an entertaining space?
You will probably be restricted in the location of the conservatory in relation to the house, but if it is to be a space for eating and entertaining, close proximity to the kitchen would be desirable. If that isn’t possible, then you may wish to include storage, counter space and a sink with waste and water supplies to prevent endless trips to and from the kitchen. Time spent now thinking through the possibilities and layouts will be well worth it when you come to enjoy living in your conservatory.

"...what do you think of a metal as white as silver, as unalterable as gold, as easily melted as copper, as tough as iron, which is malleable, ductile, and with the singular quality of being lighter than glass?"
Charles Dickens on the subject of Aluminium 1893. |
